Cervical smear tests examine cells scraped from the cervix for abnormal changes.

• Annual cervical smear tests are tests are recommended for all women. To ensure that the results are accurate, do not douche, use vaginal medication or inserts or have sexual intercourse for 24 hours before you test.
• You should not miss your test if you:

1. Became sexually active before age 18.
2. Have multiple sexual partners.
3. Have a history of pelvic infections.
4. Have had a pervious abnormal test
