GALL BLADDER DISEASE  

The gall – bladder’s function is to hold and bile and concentrates it so that the body can use it to digest fats. The bile contains cholesterol, salts, lecithin and some other substances.

When the gall- bladder becomes inflamed, there is severe pain in upper right abdomen and fever, nausea and vomiting, when the cholesterol in the gall- bladder crystallize and combines with the bile salts, gallstones are formed.

When a stone blocks the duct from the gall- bladder there is severe pain, nausea and vomiting. This often follows the eating of fatty foods.

  • A fast, with only water taken, will reduce the inflammation of the organ itself. When the pain has subsides, the fast should be broken with fruit juices, pear and apple juice, followed by the slow introduction of low – fat solid raw foods.
  • If there is gallstone, take the juice of a lemon with four tablespoons of olive oil twice a day.
  • Maintain your correct weight, as obesity is linked to gall- bladder disease.
  • Avoid sugar and products which contain a large amount of fat and sugar such as biscuits and cakes. Avoid animal fat, fried foods, spicy foods, soft drinks, coffee and chocolate.
  • Take some alfalfa tables as they are rich in minerals.
  • Take 3 tablespoonfuls of fresh lemon juice in a glass of warm water half an hour before breakfast. Lemon juice is said to cleanse and stimulate the gall - bladder to work.
