What is PARKINSON’S DISEASE

Parkinson's disease most often develops after age 50.
If you notice that someone you love is shuffling or dragging their feet, blinking less frequently than normal and peaking in a very flat monotone, it could be the start of Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s results from the degeneration of cells in the part of the brain that produce dopamine, a substance that nerves need to function properly.

  • For many, medication will control the symptoms.
  • Warm baths and regular massage will aid in reducing muscular rigidity.
  • Maintain a safe home environment
  • Simplify everyday tasks.
  • Include high – fiber foods in the diet to avoid constipation.
  • Increase fluids to aid in soft bowel movement.
  • Aid the individual to remain as active as possible, by including a regular physical therapy sessions as part of their routine.
  • Watch for depression and, if necessary, get professional assistance.
