  • Exercise – it can actually increase bone mass.
  • Take in sufficient calcium: you ne d1500 mg daily.
  • Avoid caffeine as it aids in the excretion of minerals.
  • Avoid cola drinks as they contain phosphoric acid which interferes with the absorption of calcium.
  • Supplemental estrogen, where appropriate, will aid in the assimilation of calcium.
  • Get sufficient vitamin D.
  • Avoid alcohol, as it reduces bone formation.
  • Don’t’ smoke, because it lowers estrogens levels.
  • Curtail your intake of red meat to limit calcium excretion from your bones.
  • Limits sodium, because you excrete calcium with sodium.
