GREASY HAIR PROBLEM AND SOLUTION
Your hair is flat as a pancake. You want bounce, volume, curls. The oil from your scalp glands wicks into fine straight hair quickly. No matter how much you shampoo and curl, your hair is lank and separated into greasy strands by the end of the day. People with fine hair have more hairs per inch of scalp, and with more hair goes more oil glands. Heat and humidity encourage your oil glands to get to work and so can change in hormones.
- Shampoo frequently, once a day if necessary.
- Do not use conditioner; it only adds layers of stuff to coat your hair.
- Use an astringent of witch-hazel on your scalp. Apply it with cotton –wool balls to the scalp only, not the hair.
- Brushing brings the oil from the scalp down the length of the hair. Brush only enough to detangle.
- Select your hair style carefully. Tell them that you want a ‘body’ cut.
- Relax. When you are under stress you produce more androgen which will stimulate your oil glands to overwork.
- Excessively greasy hair can be caused by the birth control pill.
- Rinse with apple cider vinegar to remove any soap residue.
- Styling gels and mousse clog the pores of the scalp, so try to style without them.
