You wake up with an entire corps of flamenco dancers stomping on your skull. Unfortunately, the only thing that will really help you feel better is time, but there are a few things you can do to help get you through the day and relieve some of the symptoms – such as headache and nausea.
- Before you fall into bed the night before the morning after, drink one glass of fruit juice and swallow one 500 mg vitamin C tablets, plus one glass of water for each drink you had.
- Eat some crackers and honey in the morning. They will aid in avoiding nausea and the honey will provide you with a concentrated source of fructose, the sugar that aids in metabolizing the alcohol.
- Drink some broth which help replace the salt and potassium you lose through the action of alcohol.
- Drinks lots of water.
- When you feel a little better, take a vitamin B complex capsule, as alcohol drains these vitamins from your body.
- Drinks some coffee to constrict the blood vessels in your head which are contributing to the pounding headache you have.
- Be sure to get a good night’s slept the following night – you should feel better in 24 hours.
- Eat a good meal before you start drink: it will definitely lessen the hangover.
- Avoid drinks that contain substances known as congeners. These are other kinds of alcohol found in most alcoholic beverages – vodka has the least -champagne and cognac the most.
