All of us dream of a sweep of long luxuriant lashes over our cheeks when we look downwards. Unfortunately, genetics control just how thick and long the eyelashes are.

However, lashes can be abused by frequent harsh face washing or eye rubbing with the hands and a little gentle treatment will encourage them to grow to the best of their inherited ability.

  • Eyelashes can be encouraged to grow longer, thicker and more rapidly by applying castor oil nightly to the tips of clean lashes.

Some of the things that the doctor might be looking at and which you can use to zero in on your own ailments are:
  • Watery eyes are common with the common cold.
  • Protruding eyes are often a symptom of a thyroid problem.
  • Yellowing of the white of eyes is often symptomatic of disease of disease of the liver or gall – bladder.
  • Dark circles under the eyes, as well as red, itchy and swollen eyelids, can be indication of allergies.

  • Photophobia can also be aided by adding vitamin A to the diet.

Eyes require a great of deal of oxygen and other nutrient for health. They also need to be rested frequently to avoid eyestrain and pain behind the eye.

  • Avoid close reading in improper light.
  • Avoid smoke-filled rooms and environmental pollutants.
  • If the eyes feel fatigued, lie down with cold compresses made with chamomile tea on each eye.
  • Do not use eye drops to gets rid of redness, as repeated use will result in a rebound condition, calling for more eye drops the next time the eyes feel fatigued.
  • Avoid nicotine, sugar and caffeine as they may sometimes have a temporary affect on the clarity of vision.
