GOUT CARE

Gout is a recurring acute arthritis of joints which results from the deposition in and about the joints and tendons of crystals of monosodium urate.

Gout may become chronicle and deforming. The majority of suffers of gout are men.

Uric acid is a by – product of certain foods, those that are purine – rich.

  • Keep the affected joint elevate and rest.
  • Take an over –the- counter anti – inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen and follow the bottle directions. Aspirin can make gout worse by inhibiting excretion of uric acid.
  • Apply ice for about 10 minutes at the time.
  • Be sure to have an abundant fluid intake to combat dehydration and flush the uric acid out of the system.
  • The urine should be alkalinished with sodium bicarbonate.
  • Eat no red meat as this contains extremely high amounts of uric acid.
  • Avoid purine – rich foods such as anchovies, asparagus, herring, meat gravies mushrooms, mussels, all organ meats, sardines and sweetbreads.
  • The closer you stay to a vegetarian diet, the less gout will trouble you.
  • Increase your Intake of cherries and cherry juice which have been shown to neutralize uric acid.
  • Soak the suffering joints in a bath made from warm comfrey tea.
