Aids & Protection

 AIDS CARE

AIDS has been called the ‘black plague’ of this era. Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by a virus that destroys the immune system.

At the present time, there is no cure, so it is best to protect yourself against infection.

  • Know your sexual partner. If you suspect your partner he had previous multiple partners, ask. Remember, you will be having sex with your sexual partner’s pervious partners for the past 10 years when it comes to this virus.
  • Do not use intravenous drugs.
  • Avoid sexual activities that could tear the vagina or rectum.
  • Insist on the use of a condoms made of latex.
  • Avoid condoms described as ‘ultrathin’.
  • Do not store condoms in hot or humid conditions as they can deteriorate.
  • Do not use oil-based lubricants such as petroleum jelly or vegetable oil, as they may cause condoms to break.
  • The condom should be held against the base of the penis after ejaculation until complete withdrawal.
